iPad Mobile Bingo
The truth is, Apple has cornered the tablet-computer market about two or three years ahead of its Android and Microsoft competition. That being the case, most if not all mobile-bingo apps were written either for Apple products or for Android phones in mind. Even the first couple generations of bingo apps' code was programmed for iPhone's iOS and has been adapted since then for the iPad's bigger screen and so forth.
Battle of the Titan-Tablets
It is a fact that the remainder of 2025 and early 2025 will hold the first major challenges to iOS and Apple's tablet vision. Here's a quick overview.
- First, the newer versions of Android (Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Beans) will be adopted by more tablets – currently, about 65% of Android gadgets run on Android v2.0 or 'Gingerbread'.
- Second, a slick new tablet from Microsoft called Surface is being unleashed, along with the new Windows 8, and, a cutting-edge soft-case doubling as click-in keyboard. Windows 8 has been redesigned with its users' various mobile devices integrated into one system. The 'third way' for tablets has arrived.
- Lastly, we are waiting to find out how hardware competition responds to Apple's incomparable Retina display. Will it be a further LCD innovation? Will it be 'digital ink' technology like the Kindle, but updated with colour? Will new screens be flexible, thinner and lighter? This should be wild to see (literally), how the industry will match Apple's Retina quality or even best it entirely.
A New Wave of Mobile-Bingo Apps
As we said, most bingo applications have been working double-duty on both iPhone and iPad because those two run on the same operating system. Online bingo halls have been leveraging their 'any phone / anywhere' capabilities, enabled by game apps provided in both iOS and Android, which in turn have covered both smartphones and tablets.
But enter a new day: now the onus is on developers to focus on tablets, independent of phones, for the newest generation of play-anywhere bingo games.
The fact is that these coming tablet-specific apps will not (or should not) perform identically with more-mobile devices like phones or the iPod Touch. It remains to be seen whether tablets will be considered 'mobile' anymore, or whether they actually take over the mobile industry entirely. A tablet's time-scape (meaning the user's sense of time, or simply how much time is available) is potentially very different than phone-bingo experiences.
We think tablets will encourage these coming improvements upon the iPad mobile-bingo thrills you are used to already:
- Choice of fast-play or long-play modes
- Better use of the tablet's larger screen space
- Apps written for the high-resolution of Retina displays
- More features like video chat using the front camera
- Higher numbers of players and 'social' features added
